As a sophomore, Parrish played a vital role in the Belles’ success a season ago, recording 498 kills, the fifth-most in a single season in program history, as she earned LSC Tournament MVP and AVCA Second Team All-American honors.
Parrish is the first Belle to earn a preseason player of the year award since fellow Boswell HS product Kailyn Gilbreath did so in the 2021 season. That season, Gilbreath led the Belles to an LSC title as she was named the conference’s player of the year.
The Belles begin their regional title defense on September 5-6 inside the Junell Center-Stephens Arena when they host the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational presented by All-American Chevrolet.

Tatiana Trotter Earns CSC Academic All-American Third Team Honors
Greenwood, Ind. – Angelo State softball junior outfielder Tatiana Trotter was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Third Team, the organization announced late this morning.
Trotter, an Intelligence and Analysis student from Lubbock, earns the first All-American honor of her career; this marks the 60th Academic All-American honor for an Angelo State student-athlete since the department’s first in 1983.
For the past two seasons, Trotter has been a mainstay in the outfield and the heart of the Rambelles’ lineup. She was an All-LSC First Team selection and earned a Golden Glove in 2025 after being named a second-team all-conference selection in 2024.
Trotter, an all-region selection for the past two seasons, hit .330 with a .648 slugging percentage and a .449 on-base percentage. She hit 14 home runs and drove in 47 runs. She ranked second in walks and slugging percentage and was tied for the team lead in home runs. Trotter, who entered the regional final hitting 2-for-14 in postseason play, went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the Rambelles’ run-rule win over West Texas A&M to force a winner-take-all game.
Trotter is the third Angelo State student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors this year, joining volleyball’s Adeline Ortman and women’s tennis’ Eva Schwartz. ASU’s three academic All-Americans are the most for the department in a single year since 2012.
This is the ninth time Rambelles Softball has had an academic All-American selection, and Trotter is the seventh different Rambelle to be named an academic All-American.

No. 8 Rambelles Advance in South Central Regional Behind Hatthorn’s One-Hitter
Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State softball team dropped their first game of the day against West Texas A&M, 2-1, in the winner’s bracket before bouncing back and eliminating Colorado Mesa, 1-0, as the Rambelles stayed alive in the South Central regional on Friday at Schaeffer Park.
Against the hosts, Erin Plunkett’s leadoff single and Tatiana Trotter’s walk set up Averie Gunther, who singled down the left field line to drive in the game’s first run in the opening frame.
The Lady Buffs would tie the game in the third inning before taking the lead on a solo home run the following inning. WT would hold the 2-1 advantage for the rest of the game to advance in the regional.
Cheyenne Floyd went the distance in the circle, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out five.
The Rambelles’ rematch with Colorado Mesa, this time in an elimination game, only saw one run scored on five hits between the two teams.
Abby Brand led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a bunt, forcing an errant throw from Mavericks pitcher Preslee Christansen, which saw the sophomore advance to second base.
Laylonna Applin, with the fifth and final hit of the game, singled up the middle, scoring pinch runner Paris Brienesse and giving the Rambelles a one-run advantage.
Amelia Hatthorn turned in her best start in her Angelo State career, allowing one hit and one walk while only allowing two baserunners. The Mavericks did not touch third base against the senior right-hander from Danbury as she earned her 13th win in 2025.
The Rambelles improve to 46-13 this season. The Rambelles and the Lady Buffs meet tomorrow, with the Rambelles needing to beat WT twice to advance to the Super Regionals.

No. 7 Rambelles Earn Seven All-LSC Awards
Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State softball team enters the Lone Star Conference Tournament this weekend with seven all-conference honors, as announced tonight at the awards banquet on the campus of West Texas A&M.
The Rambelles saw four players named to the All-LSC First Team: Cheyenne Floyd, Laylonna Applin, Tatiana Trotter, and Averie Gunther.
Ashton McMillan earned second-team honors, Floyd was named to the All-Academic team, and Trotter earned Golden Glove honors.
The Rambelles’ four first-team selections are their most since the 2021 season.
Floyd is on the All-LSC First Team for the second successive season, as she improved upon a campaign where she was named the conference’s pitcher of the year in 2024. The Coaching, Sport, Recreation, and Fitness Administration student owns a 24-5 record inside the circle with a 1.59 ERA. She has struck out 170 batters in 150 innings and has held opposing batters to a league-best .171 batting average.
She has struck out eight or more batters in ten appearances this season and has thrown two no-hitters. Floyd is peaking at the right time, as she struck out 59 batters in 48.2 innings in April. She closed the regular season with a complete-game shutout of then-top-ranked West Texas A&M, fanning eight Lady Buffs as the Rambelles handed WT their biggest loss in 2025.
Floyd is the sixth Rambelle to be named to the All-Academic Team more than once.
In her time at ASU, Floyd is 52-24 with a 1.94 ERA. She has struck out 451 batters, the second most in program history.
Applin, who has served as the Rambelles’ full-time shortstop in 2025 after moving around the diamond in her rookie season, has strung together one of the best seasons in program history. She is hitting .446 at the plate with an .892 slugging percentage and a .518 on-base percentage. She is second in the country with 148 total bases and has struck out only 12 times in 191 plate appearances.
If the season ended today, Applin’s season would rank in the top five in program history: batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, triples, and total bases.
An All-LSC Third Team and All-Freshman Team selection last season, the Health Science Professions student kicked off the season by hitting .667 on opening weekend with a 1.733 slugging percentage and 14 RBI en route to being named the NFCA National Player of the Week.
Trotter, a mainstay in the outfield and the heart of the Rambelles’ lineup for the past two seasons, was promoted to the All-LSC First Team after earning second-team honors in 2024.
Trotter is hitting .33 with a .673 slugging percentage and a .456 on-base percentage. She has hit 13 home runs and driven in 45 runs. She ranks second on the team in walks, slugging percentage, and home runs. Trotter was named the LSC Hitter of the Week on March 11th after a weekend that saw her hit .615 and slug 1.538. She drove in nine runs that week while scoring six times herself.
Trotter was named to the Golden Glove team for her play in center field, as she owns a .977 fielding percentage with seven assists. She is the first Rambelle outfielder to win a Golden Glove since Courtney Barnhill in 2021.
An All-LSC Third Team selection a season ago, Gunther has been on a tear at the plate since the start of West Division play, hitting .473 in divisional play. Gunther is hitting .355 and is second on the team in on-base percentage with a .486 mark. The Management student played all nine defensive positions against Sul Ross State on April 11th, becoming the first player in program history to do so across a doubleheader.
She has been hit by 38 pitches, the fourth most in program history. She has also contributed inside the circle, owning a 1.40 ERA. The Wylie native hit .600 against Lubbock Christian with a 1.200 slugging percentage to earn hitter of the week honors on April 7th.
The only senior in this year’s class to spend all four years of her collegiate career as a Rambelle, McMillan earns the first all-conference honor in her career. The left fielder is hitting .358 this season with seven home runs and 46 RBI, ranking second on the team in average in RBI.
She is slugging .601 and owns a .409 on-base percentage. McMillan has ten multi-hit games this season and enters the postseason with a 16-game reached base streak. She has stolen 18 bases this season and is a career .314 hitter as a Rambelle.
The Rambelles are ranked seventh in the country and third in the South Central regional rankings. They open their postseason schedule tomorrow in the LSC Tournament against Eastern New Mexico.
